Rolling ROck

MID CENTURY MODERN

KITCHEN & MASTER BATHROOM

This 1957 home is apart of the Lakeland Hills section of Highland Meadows, these homes were originally advertised as “expressions of forward thinking” equipped with “revolutionary Frigidaire” appliances and air conditioning systems., these wonderful homeowners have continued the celebration through creative projects that further deepen a special sense of place. We felt lucky to be invited to collaborate with the homeowners on two significant projects on this very special home. We say collaborate gently as most or all the design credit goes to the Homeowners. They will be the first to admit they are MCM fanatics! They had obsessed about every detail before we arrived for our first meetings. It was critical that everything be period correct or heavily inspired. As we sat on their 1950s couch overlooking their Jukebox and authentic MCM decor…. we knew we were invited to be a part of something special. We kept the original layout of the kitchen and bathroom as we wanted to respect the original architecture. It’s always a tricky balance to keep the authenticity of 1950s home and introduce modern conveniences. There were countless hours put into the kitchen and Primary bath projects to ensure the playfulness and thoughtfulness of this period was forefront.
